R.J. Rushdoony’s Future Impact

We are very busy here at Chalcedon. Publishing is keeping us scrambling right now. As I look at my office’s “whiteboard” of projects, I can see four books printed this year (three straight reprints and one new novel) with 16 others in various stages (four of which are new works). Some of the 16 will be new editions of my father’s works. A new edition entails multiple proofreadings, typesetting, indexing, and new graphics.
There is enough on my whiteboard to keep us busy for several years, even without our monthly publications, Arise and Build and the Chalcedon Report.
All this is to say that we are busy even when you cannot see what we do. I’m sure much of what you do day-to-day goes unnoticed as well. One thing that is unique to a ministry is that it is not supported by the give-and-take exchanges in the marketplace, but by the gifts of those who believe in its work.
We appreciate the support for a work that our donors cannot see in progress. When my father passed, I knew it was my responsibility to keep his work in print. When authors pass away, their work typically does so as well. When their work was never a profitable undertaking, there is even less likelihood of its remaining in print. Those who support Chalcedon enable me to continue my work of keeping my father’s works in print. I am profoundly grateful for the enabling gifts to this end, because I believe my father’s greatest impact is yet in the future. Why? Because he addresses issues the church has refused to address, but will be forced to at some point.
Tithes and offerings are the funding method of God’s Kingdom, and therefore, we have tried to be frugal with those entrusted to us, and pray for God’s blessing on our faithful supporters.

Mark R. Rushdoony graduated from Los Angeles Baptist College (now The Master’s College) with a B.A. in history in 1975 and was ordained to the ministry in 1995.
He taught junior and senior high classes in history, Bible, civics and economics at a Christian school in Virginia for three years before joining the staff of Chalcedon in 1978. He was the Director of Chalcedon Christian School for 14 years while teaching full time. He also helped tutor all of his children through high school.
In 1998, he became the President of Chalcedon and Ross House Books, and, more recently another publishing arm, Storehouse Press. Chalcedon and its subsidiaries publish many titles plus CDs, mp3s, and an extensive online archive at www.chalcedon.edu.
He has written scores of articles for Chalcedon’s publications, both the Chalcedon Report and Faith for all of Life. He was a contributing author to The Great Christian Revolution (1991). He has spoken at numerous conferences and churches in the U.S. and abroad.
Mark Rushdoony lives in Vallecito, California, his home of 43 years with his wife of 45 years and his youngest son. He has three married children and nine grandchildren.
