I remember commercials from the 50s and 60s that touted: To get a good job, get a good education. Go to college. I did not understand why an ad campaign encouraging higher education was needed until I learned that, at that time, college was not a "given" for everyone, nor was it deemed necessary for all occupations or endeavors.
There is no doubt that today in order to enter many professions or secure a host of jobs, a college degree is a basic requirement. However the education received at most colleges comes from an anti-Christian perspective and Christians who drink from the fountain of secular education need to be re-educated from a Biblical perspective.
Recently I was listening to a recorded lecture given by R. J. Rushdoony in the 1960s, discussing his six years at the University of California at Berkeley. He remarked that in his entire time at the school, there were only three or four teachers from whom he received any benefit. He commented that for the most part, he had to outgrow his education there and reorder his thinking into Biblical standards and perspectives.
That is why Chalcedon's newly revamped website is such a blessing and boon to the advancement of Christ's Kingdom. Thanks to the visionary support of many of Chalcedon's friends, countless individuals worldwide will now have access to the extensive writings and scholarship of R. J. Rushdoony. The scope of this project is huge and there have been, and will be, bumps along the way. However, the greatest blessing is that millions will be able to "outgrow their humanistic education" and reorder their thinking into Biblical standards and perspectives.
