The Promises of God Liberate Us from the Evils of Our Day

Why do we speak more of the evils of our day than we do the promises and commandments of our Lord? If news headlines are at the forefront of our minds—rather than the Word of God—we will soon become a people “trapped in the wilderness” by our collective unbelief.

“Humanism is an evil: we must do battle against it on all fronts. We must remember, however, that their coming and their going will only further God’s purpose and enrich God’s Kingdom...”

Trapped by Unbelief

The Scriptures are clear that Israel in the wilderness could not enter in to their dominion calling in Canaan because of their unbelief (Heb. 3:19). Their hearts were hardened, and they provoked God to wrath (v. 7-12).

We as the spiritual Israel are called out of sin to fulfill God’s dominion calling, but we also can be trapped by our unbelief if we do not take God’s covenant seriously—and that means both commandment and promise!

Commandment and Promise

God’s Word is a two-edged sword of commandment and promise, and although we hold strongly to the law-word of God, we also must consider God’s promises as above anything we see with our eyes or hear with our ears.

It may look as if the world is descending further into darkness, but we must remember that even the wicked are serving God’s purpose and Kingdom, and what’s important for us as God’s people to do is to busy ourselves with the work of reconstruction.

Our hope is in God’s promise, but our work is governed by His holy commandments.

What is Our Responsibility?

Our relationship with God is based upon His covenant, and that is only fruitful to the degree that we are faithful to it. In other words, we cannot “vote in” the blessings of Deuteronomy 28, nor can we “pray away” it’s curses.

It is God who ordains the “powers that be” (Rom. 13:1), and it is He alone who turns the hearts of leaders (Prov. 21:1). Our responsibility is to “fulfill the law” by means of love (Rom. 13:8-10). Godly service, therefore, is our means of dominion. This is how a covenant people are to live during the darkest of times.

The Absence of a Voice

It’s imperative that we not only put ourselves in remembrance of these things, but we should also feel a sense of urgency to communicate these truths to an ever-growing audience of Christians who are more ready to hear them.

As we approach 2017, we can see that the church is struggling to find answers to the growing darkness. If anything, the solutions offered by megachurch leaders are not much more than placating to political correctness and apologizing for righteousness. Hardly prophetic!

New Ways to Communicate an Old Message

But there is a voice that’s speaking, and it has been since 1965. The Chalcedon Foundation® is the leading Christian educational organization dedicated to publishing and proclaiming Christian Reconstruction—the only solution to the crises of our times.

What’s needed are new ways to maximize the message and financial supporters to sustain them. For example, the small group training of The Chalcedon Teacher Training Institute” ( is an excellent resource for women of all ages to further their competency as wives, mothers, grandmothers, singles, mentors, or homeschool teachers.

The new Chalcedon Virtual Master Class is beginning to impact young people by offering webinars taught by Christian professionals in various fields to encourage and equip our youth for their vocations and callings. The first two webinars featured a Christian novelist and a physician. There’s more to come!
