Charity and History (II Corinthians)

Saint Paul called attention to the fact that there are three types of giving required by God of His people. He is dealing in particular with the third type, the first is the tithe to God, the second, gifts and offerings above and beyond the tithe. The tithe is a tax, we do not give God a gift until it above the tithe. Then the third we would have to call the deacons offering, an offering to minister to the needs of people.
